Student Health Insurance Plan

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) COVID-19 Coverage Updates:

Effective March 7, 2020, BCBSMA is:

  • Covering the full cost of diagnostic tests for COVID-19. Students will have no copay, co-insurance or deductible for these tests.
  • Waiving co-pays for medically necessary COVID-19 treatment at doctor’s offices, emergency rooms, and urgent care centers.
  • Waiving co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles for telehealth benefits (Well Connection) for the screening, evaluation, diagnosis and/or suggested treatment of COVID-19. Telehealth offers convenience as well as the opportunity to avoid potential exposure to contagion. For additional information about telehealth benefits, please visit: https://myblue.bluecrossma.com/health-plan/well-connection
  • Staffing a dedicated helpline (888-372-1970) for all COVID-19 related inquiries.

The state of Massachusetts and Becker College require that all students carrying nine or more credits be enrolled in a medical insurance plan. To comply with this regulation, students that meet the above mentioned criteria are automatically enrolled in and billed for the Student Health Insurance Plan through Becker College. All International Students are required to enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan.

If you are covered by another comparable insurance plan, you may waive this plan by completing the online waiver through University Health Plans. Please retain the waiver confirmation number for your records.

If you plan to utilize the Student Health Insurance Plan, you may enroll online through University Health Plans. This will expedite receipt of insurance plan coverage.

Visit University Health Plans to download a brochure for complete plan description, including exclusions and limitations, as well as claims information. Dental and eye care benefits are available as a separate plan. For more information, please call 800.437.6448.

Waiver and enrollment forms will be available after June 1st for fall admission and after December 1st for spring admission.

The waiver deadline for incoming Fall 2020 students is September 16, 2020.

Important: The online insurance enrollment or waiver form must be completed every year. If you do nothing, you will be automatically enrolled in and responsible for student health insurance plan costs.
