Counseling Services offers free individual counseling services without billing health insurance and the peace of mind that counseling records are never made a part of students’ academic records or transcripts. Individual counseling sessions are typically 45-50 minutes in length. Some students schedule weekly individual counseling sessions, while others meet with their provider bi-weekly, monthly, or a few times a semester. The key is providing quality services to best meet a students’ needs through an individualized treatment plan.
Group counseling is a great way to receive support from peers in an objective setting, to learn new skills, and improve ways of relating to others. Therapy and support groups typically last five to six weeks in duration for approximately an hour and a half in length for each group meeting. Various groups are offered on both campuses throughout the year.
Counseling Services staff are available to support parents and family support in evaluating situations, providing consultations during difficult periods, and offering referrals for psychiatric medication and related services. Parents and family members who would like to consult on a student should request an appointment.
