What Will My Family/Parents do During New Student Orientation?

It is our pleasure and privilege to welcome your family to the Becker College community. Informed and involved families are crucial to student success, and June New Student Orientation is not just for students!

Families, parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to attend the Family Orientation program, which coincides with the first day of New Student Orientation. The Family Orientation Program has been specifically designed to address family/parent/guardian concerns and provide families with information and resources geared towards families of new students. Both families and students receive comparable information, but in concurrently running programs. Families should not plan to spend a lot of time with their student during June New Student Orientation; orientation events foster the separation process.

Please note that the Family Orientation program is designed for adults, because of the structure and content of the program. Child care is not available. Additionally, only two family members/parents/guardians for each new student are allowed to attend due to space limitations.  On-campus housing for parents or family members is not provided, however information on area hotels can be found here.

The Family New Student Orientation program schedule for the upcoming year will be posted in the Spring 2018 semester.
