The Massachusetts Digital Games Institute (MassDiGI) at Becker College received a $35,000 state grant toward the development of the MassDiGI New Ventures Center. The new center, scheduled to open early next year, will serve as an on-campus business assistance center for interactive media, game development, and business technology students from Becker and other higher education institutions across Massachusetts. The Collaborative Workspace Program award will be used to create the first-ever augmented and virtual reality lab of its kind in central Massachusetts.  It was one of 20 grants, totaling $1,257,592 million, awarded by the Baker-Polito Administration to organizations in eastern Massachusetts that are fostering community-based innovation and entrepreneurship, while spurring job creation at the local level.

Through active mentorship with game industry leaders and faculty experts, the MassDiGI New Ventures Center will bring students together and provide access to the educational programming, technical assistance, and business development support needed to learn, incubate, and launch products in the global digital marketplace.
