MassDiGI Launches New Internship Program
Published on: December 4, 2020
The Massachusetts Digital Games Institute (MassDiGI) at Becker College has launched XP, a new virtual internship program for recent college or university graduates and current college or university students. XP has been designed especially for those who have had their early career or academic path disrupted by the pandemic and are interested in a high-quality game development experience to bolster their resumes and add to their portfolios. The program is now accepting applications through January 4, 2021.
“The pandemic has altered so much for so many young people, and our intent is to offer them an opportunity that will enhance their learning and their professional development,” said Tim Loew, executive director of MassDiGI.
Similar to MassDiGI’s well-known SIP summer program, XP is a competitive, 11-week virtual internship experience that includes mentoring, guidance, and modest stipends to help teams build a game and prepare it for launch.
After running a successful pilot effort this past autumn, the first official cycle of XP is scheduled from January 26 to April 16, 2021.
XP is funded in part through a CARES Act grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) as part of its University Center program. XP is expected to run four cycles. Dates for the other three cycles will be forthcoming.
