Worcester Chamber: MassDiGI is a Game Changer
The Massachusetts Digital Games Institute (MassDiGI) at Becker College will be recognized for its influential role in advancing the region’s game industry when it receives a 2017 Game Changer Award at the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce Game Changers Business Conference and Expo on Friday, October 20th.
The award acknowledges MassDiGI’s many contributions to growing and supporting Worcester’s innovation economy and its position as a national leader in the games community.
“The Game Changer Award is a testament to the tremendous impact MassDiGI is having on the area’s economic landscape and the ever-changing video game industry in Massachusetts and beyond,” said Nancy P. Crimmin, Ed.D., Becker College’s president and chair of the MassDiGI Advisory Board. “We are honored to receive this award.”
Designated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as the statewide center for entrepreneurship, academic cooperation and economic development across the state’s digital and video games ecosystem, MassDiGI strengthens the talent pipeline between higher education and the game industry. Washington DC-based think tank Progressive Policy Institute recently named Worcester one of the Top 10 emerging start-up hubs in the nation.
“MassDiGI has played a major role in the digital games sector in the region and the Chamber is pleased to recognize and honor MassDiGI’s work and accomplishments,” wrote Tim Murray, Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce President, in a letter announcing the award to MassDiGI.
The conference will be held Friday, October 20th from 7:30am to 1:30pm at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. The annual event focuses on economic development, the transformation of Worcester’s skyline, and new opportunities in the import/export sector, high tech and biotech, and more.
