PermaDeath Opera and Becker College Night

PermaDeath, or Permanent Death, is not tautologous in the world of videogames. Your avatar is “killed,” but rises again to fight another day. But what if it never rises again? What if it dies permanently? Watch the gods of the 21st century, our digital avatars, battle it out in cyber space in an epic fight to the death. Who will be left standing?

PermaDeath is the worlds first “video game opera” combining live interaction between real and virtual characters on the same stage! The opera tells the story of a young video game champion named Sonny, who is diagnosed with ALS and is confined to a wheelchair. She realizes that very soon she will lose so much motor function that she won’t be able to compete in an up-coming championship. That is when her avatars decide on their own to compete for her in a battle to the death – hence the title, Permadeath. You can read more about it here: http://www.whitesnakeprojects.org/projects/permadeath/ . Much of the live streaming motion capture used to bring this story to life was developed here at Becker College by Professor Curvin Huber and a team of our game students. This melding of opera and video game technology is an event not to be missed! Get your tickets now!
