About the Course:

This course is designed to provide the student with a foundational knowledge base for professional practice in nursing. Students are also introduced to the critical role of the baccalaureate prepared nurse within the changing landscape of healthcare organizations. The Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies will provide the foundation to foster scholarly practice and critical reasoning skills applicable to nursing education and practice. The ethical, professional, and moral values essential to nursing practice will also be explored. Course work will be directed toward the development of self-reflection, professional writing, test taking skills, student and classroom skills, as well as, preparation for clinical experience as a student nurse. The responsibilities of the professional nurse as a clinician, professional advocate, and leader in evidence-based nursing practice will be central to the course content. A C+ or better is required in nursing courses to continue in the Nursing program. Pre and co-requisite courses must be taken as outlined in the Becker College BSN curriculum plan.
