About the Course:

This course introduces Organic Chemistry, with emphasis on the principles of broad classes of reactions. Topics will include bonding, physical properties, stereochemistry of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alkyl halides, alcohols and ethers, with an introduction to infrared and magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The laboratory will complement and expand on lecture topics. Laboratory safety will be emphasized. The organic reactions performed will be done in a microscale. Prerequisites: CHEM1001 and CHEM1002.
