WooSmash! A Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Special Event, hosted by MassDiGI, drew hundreds of people to Becker College on May 18.  

Shine 2019 sponsored the event, which was held at Becker’s Colleen C. Barrett Center. Shine 2019, a major Smash event, is coming to the DCU Center in August.

A total of 229 people preregistered for WooSmash, which was hosted by the Massachusetts Digital Games Institute (MassDiGI) and Becker College, with help from Discover Central Mass., the Becker Gaming Tournaments and Esports Clubs and Game Underground.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a popular Nintendo game with a huge community of players.  About 80 people competed in the event, and vied for prizes that included Shine 2019 passes. In addition, more than 100 people turned out to watch the action for free.

“All in all it was a super day,” said Timothy Loew, Executive Director of MassDiGI. “With a packed house filled with folks of all ages, WooSmash! was a smash success.”
