The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) recognized the Becker College women’s lacrosse team senior class this week.   This group was integral in the greatest single-season turnaround in NCAA history, improving from 1-13 in 2018 to 13-2 in 2019, reaching the finals of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship Tournament.

They led the Hawks to the regular season crown in 2019, going 6-0 in regular season conference play. The 13 wins was a program-best for the Hawks.

Becker senior midfielder Cassandra Nelson (Exeter, N.H. / Exeter) played in 45 games over her collegiate career, scoring 81 career goals with 26 assists, 92 ground balls, 141 draw controls and 32 caused turnovers. Nelson’s career culminated in a spectacular junior season when she earned All-NECC First Team honors and led the Hawks to the conference championship game. Nelson finished sixth all-time in school history in assists and ninth in goals.

Becker senior defensive midfielder Samantha Carter (Boothbay Harbor, Maine / Boothbay Region) has been a leader for the Hawks throughout her career, starting 45 games and amassing 47 goals, seven assists and 122 ground balls. Carter finished her career ranked eighth in school history in ground balls and caused turnovers.

Becker senior defender Olivia Dupree (Centerport, N.Y. / Post University) was entering her first season with the Becker women’s lacrosse program after two years with the women’s ice hockey team. Dupree played 49 games during her career with the Ice Hawks, with two goals and two assists.

Becker senior defender Samantha Talmadge (Hamden, Conn. / Hamden) was entering her first season with the Becker women’s lacrosse program after four years with the women’s ice hockey team. Talmadge played in 100 games for the Ice Hawks, with five goals and three assists in that time.
