Becker College Recognized for its Academic Programs

Published on: March 21, 2018

Citing its innovative educational practices and strong record of preparing graduates for the real world, Becker College was named a “College of Distinction.”

Colleges of Distinction is a national guidebook honoring schools throughout the U.S. for excellence in undergraduate-focused higher education. Becker was recognized for creating a truly unique learning environment where students not only earn college credit and valuable life experience, but also participate in character-building programs such as Semester in the City, service trips, alternative Spring Break, study abroad, and internships.

Each school in the Colleges of Distinction consortium has been thoroughly vetted to ensure they meet Four Distinctions: Engaged Students, Great Teaching, Vibrant Communities, and Successful Outcomes. The Colleges of Distinction website and annual guidebooks provide college profiles, customized tools, and resources for students, parents, and high school counselors.

“Our goal is to select schools that are 100% focused on the student experience, driven to produce well-rounded graduates who are prepared for a global society and economy,” said Tyson Schritter, Chief Operating Officer for Colleges of Distinction. “Becoming a College of Distinction, like Becker College, is proof that the institutions we select are fully invested in their students’ success, beginning on day one and continuing through the rest of their lives.”

Becker was also honored by The Knowledge Review, an international education magazine offering news, blogs, articles and analysis from the best colleges and universities. Calling it a “figure of admiration” and a “true diversification of a campus structure,” The Knowledge Review featured Becker in its “10 Most Admired Universities and Colleges to Watch in 2018” list.  The publication underscored Becker’s inclusive learning community and its commitment to prepare graduate for their first to last careers.

Recently, Becker’s Interactive Media Design program was recognized by The Princeton Review. The College ranked #4 in its “Top 50 Undergraduate Schools for Game Design” list, climbing up one spot from number five. Becker is the only East Coast institution to make the list every year since 2010, when The Princeton Review Game Design rankings launched.

“These prestigious recognitions validate what I witness across campus on a daily basis,” said Becker College President Nancy P. Crimmin, Ed.D. “Our faculty and programs are among the best in the country and world, and have made Becker a top-choice institution for students.”
