Young Named Becker Men’s Ice Hockey Head Coach, beckerhawks.com, April 25

The Becker College Department of Athletics has named Mike Young the new head coach of the Becker men’s ice hockey program.

Freshman Clare Conway scored seven goals and junior Cassandra Nelson added four goals as the Becker College women’s lacrosse team beat Dean College, 24-2.  With the win, the Hawks have won nine games in a row while outscoring opponents, 164-34.

Students, faculty and staff from Becker College banded together recently to win the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Special Olympics Spotlight Poll.

 

Women’s Lacrosse: Hawks soar past Blazers, 16-3, beckerhawks.com, April 23

The Becker College women’s lacrosse team beat Elms College, 16-3, on April 23. The game was a matchup of the New England Collegiate Conference’s last two undefeated teams. Becker now holds sole possession of first place in the conference standings with just one game still to be played.

Storey named Becker Athlete of the Week, beckerhawks.com, April 22

Becker College senior Nikolle Storey was named the Becker Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 21. Storey, who plays on the women’s lacrosse team, held Bay Path University to one goal in the Hawks 17-1 victory over the Wildcats. With the win, Storey set the school’s single-season record for goalkeeper wins in a season.

Becker College President Nancy Crimmin has been named as a new corporator for County Bank.

 

3-on-3 tourney raises funds for scholarships, Worcester Telegram & Gazette, April 19

Becker College graduate David Maturah was part of the winning team in a basketball tournament that raised funds for college scholarships. Maturah’s team also returned the prize money to add to the scholarship effort.

10 Becker Women’s Ice Hockey Student-Athletes Receive CHC All-Academic Honors, beckerhawks.com, April 18

Ten Becker College women’s ice hockey student-athletes have been named to the Colonial Hockey Conference All-Academic team for the 2018-19 season. They include: Brittany Aiello, Katherine Capobianco, Claudia Gee, Julia Johnson, Michaela Martin, Cameron Payne, Rachel Pitcher, Madison Rigsby, Nikolle Storey and Samantha Talmadge.

Becker College freshman Julia Ravenelle, was named the New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 14. Ravenelle, who plays on the women’s lacrosse team, had seven goals and three assists as she lead the Hawks to a 2-0 week.

Becker College freshman Elizabeth Simonian of the Becker College softball team was named the New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 14. Simonian hit .500 with six RBIs, one double and two walks.

 

Becker softball powers to sweep over Dean, Worcester Telegram & Gazette, April 14

The Becker College women’s softball team swept a double-header against Dean College, 10-1 and 10-4, on April 14. Sarah Ellis, Vasia Murphy, Kelsey Weston and Emily Iacovelli homered in the first game. Lauren Niemann had three hits and three runs in the second game.
