McMahon voted into all-district baseball team for second year in a row

Michael McMahon plays baseballBecker College graduate Michael McMahon ’20 has been named to the Academic All-District® Baseball Team for the second year in a row by the College of Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA).

McMahon, a two-year captain of the Becker College baseball team, is the first Becker College student-athlete to receive this accolade twice. The All-District® Baseball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

“It truly means a lot to be honored by such a prestigious organization like CoSIDA, as well as be recognized on a list with so many amazing baseball players from across the area,” said McMahon.  “There are so many great student-athletes at Becker College who do tremendous things, both on and off the field of play,so it is a privilege to represent Becker on a list featuring student-athletes from such prestigious colleges and universities.”

McMahon graduated this spring Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Sports Management Concentration.  He finished his collegiate career with a 4.00 cumulative GPA and was the first person to receive both the Becker College President’s & Dean’s Awards.

McMahon been active in a large number of activities and received countless awards. He was president of Becker’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, worked with Special Olympics in five different states, and has helped run Becker’s Annual National Student-Athlete Day Celebration for the past three years. He was voted Becker College Student of the Year twice, and was a selected member of Becker’s Leaders of Excellence and Athletic Pride group.  He was awarded Academic Achievement awards in his sophomore and junior years, was the recipient of the Sport Management Aspiring Scholar Award, and was named the 2019 Becker College Beaudoin Scholar.

He also was the recipient of the John J. Dorsey Scholar Athlete Award, which was presented at the Becker Senior Awards Celebration this spring.  Also during his senior year, he was a recipient of the 2019 Mechanics Hall Collegiate Apprentice Award at the Annual Celebration of Excellence. McMahon is a member of three different honors societies: Alpha Lambda Delta, Alpha Chi, and Chi Alpha Sigma.  In addition, he has been named three times to the NECC Spring All-Academic Team and has earned Dean’s List honors every semester as a student.
