World Day of Social Justice Event

Becker College invites the community to campus to celebrate World Day of Social Justice on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. Worcester city leaders will join the Becker faculty, staff, and students to discuss the social justice initiatives happening locally.
The United Nations declared February 20th as World Day of Social Justice in 2007 and its observance started in 2009. Members unanimously adopted the resolution which seeks to end poverty, promote full employment and decent work, gender equality, and access to social well-being and justice for all.
“While the goals of World Day of Social Justice are international, it’s important to remember all of us can participate by acting locally,” said Ursula Furi-Perry, Esq., Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Becker College. “Hearing about the great work our city leaders are doing is inspiring and reminds us that we can all work toward creating a more inclusive community.”
The event will take place on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, from 12:30-2pm, in the Weller Academic Center Room 210. Speakers will include Suja Chacko, the City’s Chief Diversity Officer, and Dr. Esperanza Donovan-Pendzic from Worcester Public Schools. Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, email Dean Furi-Perry at firstname.lastname@example.org.
