Dean Ursula Furi-Perry named as one of 40 Under Forty by Worcester Business Journal

Becker College Dean Ursula Furi-Perry has been named as one of the recipients of Worcester Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty awards. The awards celebrate outstanding local business leaders who work in Central Massachusetts, live in Massachusetts and are under 40 years old.
Furi-Perry is the dean of Becker College’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences, which includes majors in Criminal Justice and Legal Studies, Psychology, Education, and Humanities, as well as courses in Sociology, History, and Government. She also serves as the interim dean of the School of Graduate & Professional Studies. Furi-Perry previously served at Becker as an assistant dean.
For more than a decade, Furi-Perry has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in law, paralegal studies, criminal justice, and government at a number of institutions, including Becker College, the Massachusetts School of Law at Andover, the Center for Legal Studies, Bridgewater State University, and Northern Essex Community College. She comes to Becker after serving as director of academic excellence and adjunct professor at the Massachusetts School of Law.
The author of 14 books, Furi-Perry’s work has been published by Law.com, American Lawyer Media, the American Bar Association, LawCrossing.com, Legal Assistant Today, and several of the Boston Herald‘s community publications. As an attorney, Furi-Perry focuses her practice on divorce, custody, and other domestic relations matters. She has been licensed in Massachusetts since 2007. She was recognized as a 2016 Up-and-Coming Excellence in the Law honoree by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly and the Massachusetts Bar Association.
Furi-Perry speaks frequently to bar associations, paralegal associations, schools, and other organizations. She served as the keynote speaker for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Paralegal Conference in 2009 and 2012; the chair and speaker for the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Creative Ways Conference in 2009 and 2011; and was the organizer and speaker for the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Young Lawyer Career Conference in 2009 and 2010; as well as serving as a panelist and speaker at many other conferences and seminars. In addition, she has been a guest for several radio programs and has been quoted by various publications, including the Wall Street Journal Law Blog, Law360, and American Lawyer Magazine. Furi-Perry holds a degree in politics and American studies from Brandeis University and a Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the Massachusetts School of Law at Andover, where she graduated at the top of her class.
Also making the 40 Under Forty list is Ryan Canuel, a Becker College alum who is the CEO of Petricore Inc, a video games start up that operates out of the New Ventures Center at Becker College’s Colleen C. Barrett Center for Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
