Junior Ambassadors

John D HeadshotName: John D.
Hometown: Wayne, NJ
Year: Class of 2021
Major: Interactive Media Design, specializing in Game Design
Why did you choose Becker? The atmosphere on campus, the style of the residence halls, and the interactive media design program.
What is your favorite thing about Becker? All of the awesome people I’ve met in or outside of class.
What is your favorite place to hang out while on campus? The Hawk’s Nest or the Design Building.
What’s your favorite place to grab food off campus? Chipotle in Shrewsbury, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza in Northborough
What are some clubs and organizations you’re involved in? Gaming Tournament Club
What is your favorite thing/thing you are most proud of doing here? At the Autumn Games Showcase in 2017, I got the high score on a game called Little Grimm which was created by Becker students!  This helped me win a new Nintendo 2DS Xl which was a nice upgrade from the 2012 model I had.
What’s a fun fact about you? I almost went into TV/Film Production over Game Design.  I took three years of TV Studio in high school and loved working on our schools new show.  (Shoutout to Wayne Valley Television!)
What is your advice for prospective students and/or high school seniors? College may seem intimidating but the best way to make the transition from high school will be to talk to a lot of new people, try a lot of new stuff, and make some friends you would’ve never met otherwise.  Just don’t leave anything to the last minute – ever.

Cassandra HeadshotName: Cassandra D.
Hometown: Salem, MA
Year: Class of 2021
Major: Pre-Veterinary Science
Why did you choose Becker? Because it had everything I wanted in a school.  It’s small with a very involved community, it’s a very accepting environment, and of course, it has the clinic and the pre-veterinary major.
What is your favorite thing about Becker? I love how inclusive it is.
What is your favorite place to hang out while on campus? The fishbowl in the Fuller Campus Center, the dining hall, and in my bed.
What’s your favorite place to grab food off campus? Baba Sushi in Worcester, Sol of Mexico in Worcester
What are some clubs and organizations you’re involved in? PRIDE Club (Treasurer), Becker B.L.U.E. Crew
What is your favorite thing/thing you are most proud of doing here? My GPA is what I’m most proud of.  I never did well in school before Becker because I was never passionate about the set curriculum I had my whole life.  Now that I love every class I’m taking and I know it will apply to my career someday, I am the greatest student I’ve ever been.
What’s a fun fact about you? I used to be a contortionist.
What is your advice for prospective students and/or high school seniors? If you do what makes you happy then it will never feel like work.  Pick the major you want, pick the school you want, don’t listen to anyone else – just follow your own heart.  If you think it’s a reach, do it anyway.
