Master of Fine Arts in Interactive Media Curriculum

The 60-credit Master of Fine Arts in Interactive Media offers two convenient enrollment options:

Two-year MFA in Interactive Media:  The Master of Fine Arts in Interactive Media curriculum is structured to include four semesters of graduate work plus four Residency Weeks (these Residencies occur at the beginning and end of each academic year).

Combined five-year BA/MFA in Interactive Media:  Students enrolling in the Becker College BA in Interactive Media program may earn their MFA degree by adding a fifth year of study.

Master of Fine Arts in Interactive Media Candidate Expectations:

  • The MFA student works with other talented and experienced artists, designers, and developers; and will establish valuable networking relationships with industry professionals.
  • The MFA student has the opportunity to work on and create publishable interactive media properties and take on a role of product owner/art director for an interactive media project within Becker’s studio-based courses.
  • The MFA student strengthens existing skill sets in order to advance in a current interactive media position or switch to the interactive media field from a related area;
  • The MFA student works with a faculty advisor/industry mentor who will assist them on their creative discovery process throughout four semesters of graduate level courses and studio work.
  • The MFA student will attend one Residency Week each semester (these occur at the start and end of each academic year), which will include collaborative experiences, presentations and critiques, peer review, field trips, guest lectures, and unique learning opportunities.
  • The MFA student will complete a thesis project that demonstrates the students’ understanding of both the technical and aesthetic perspectives of their chosen area of study within the context of the interactive media/video game medium.
