Emergent leadership is a key trait that is in high demand by a range of industries; such leadership is integral to building strong teams and utilizing innovation to create effective and transformational change.
WELI is a uniquely designed certificate program that focuses on developing emergent leaders—those who are capable of successfully navigating chaos and complexity, inspiring others through a collaborative and innovative point of view, and nurturing an organization and its culture to ensure sustainability. Participants in this program develop a deep understanding of emergent leadership qualities which are critical to facilitating effective, transformational, and innovative change, both within themselves and within the organizations they serve. WELI participants will apply concepts of social business to initiate positive social impact. WELI is designed for women who aspire to be engaged in potential areas of leadership or who are currently in leadership roles and desire the development of a leadership style that is inclusive, consensus-building, collaborative, and collegial for the purpose of achieving personal excellence and becoming creative agents of change.
Participants meet Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., September 6 – December 13 (no class on October 25) at the Becker College Center for Global Citizenship, 44 West Street, Worcester.
The program includes readings and discussion, guest speakers, a TED Talks Playlist (12 talks on how to be a great leader), reflective and critical writing, and a cross-cultural service learning experience in leadership.
Participants present a final leadership project integrating theory and practice emphasizing the tenets of social business and/or the Agile Mindset having social impact and creating new value.
The course may be taken for credit (6) or non-credit. A certificate is awarded to those who successfully complete the program.
