Innovation on campus is a critical component of a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem. Since its establishment in 2011, the Massachusetts Digital Games Institute (MassDiGI) fosters new interactive media and game development concepts, the growth of new technology ventures, the practice of learning agility, and the creation of new jobs in the sector.
To accomplish these goals, MassDiGI has embarked on such major initiatives as the region-wide MassDiGI Game Challenge pitch competition and a multi-institutional MassDiGI Summer Innovation Program to target college and university students to become leaders in the new digital economy. MassDiGI has achieved a track record of successful outcomes over a short period of time.
In 2017, the College opened the MassDiGI New Ventures Center (NVC) to further enhance this mission. The NVC will function as a year-round, cutting-edge business assistance center, incubation, and acceleration laboratory. The NVC is housed in the Colleen C. Barrett Center for Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship on Becker College’s Worcester campus and also exists as a virtual incubation and acceleration laboratory for interactive media, game development, and technology-centric student entrepreneurs from the eleven Gateway Cities across Massachusetts.
