Becker to host NECC Esports Showcase on Jan. 31

Becker College will host a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Esports Showcase on Friday, January 31, from 1:30-5 p.m.  The event, which is being held in partnership with the Massachusetts Digital Game Institute (MassDiGI), will take place in the Colleen C. Barrett Center for Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship, at 80 William Street, on the College’s Worcester Campus.

Becker College’s Registered Nursing Program has been ranked #1 out of 50 nursing schools in Massachusetts by Nursingprocess.org. Ranking factors investigate four broad areas: academic quality, NCLEX-RN exam performance, affordability, and the overall reputation of the school, with academic quality and NCLEX-RN first-time pass rate given the maximum weight as indicators of the College’s performance record.

Becker College’s varsity Overwatch team took center stage in a recently-published Experience Magazine story about esports.

The story, “Forget football. Video games are the next big college sport,” opens from the perspective of Becker’s Overwatch coach, Nick “Shifty” Travis, giving a pep talk to the members of College’s varsity team before a match, and expands to discuss the growth and mainstream acceptance of esports.
