The fundamental mission of the Office of Institutional Research & Assessment is to collect, analyze, and disseminate information for decision-making, assessment, enrollment management, and planning activities that support the realization of Becker’s strategic vision. In this capacity, IR&A assumes primary responsibility for analyzing and interpreting data about the performance of the College.
Becker College is an institution on the rise. Enrolling approximately 2,000 students annually, from around the country and across the globe, Becker offers students a transformational learning experience rooted in academic excellence, creative expression, and social responsibility.
Vera Mauk is the Director in the Office of Institutional Research & Assessment at Becker College. She joined the Becker Community in 2015 with more than a decade of applied research experience. Ms. Mauk worked as the associate director of Institutional Research, Assessment, and Planning at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; as the senior research analyst at The College of the Holy Cross, in Worcester, Mass.; as a professional expert at Los Angeles Unified School District’s Program Evaluation and Research Branch (PERB); as an observer for Public/Private Ventures; data liaison for Policy Studies Associates; and as a research associate at Pomona College. She earned her master’s degree in Applied Developmental Psychology from Claremont Graduate University and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Stonehill College.
Narine Hakobyan is the Assistant Director in the Office of Institutional Research & Assessment at Becker College. She joined the Becker Community in 2016 with almost 20 years of research experience and training in Higher Education. Mrs. Hakobyan has her Master’s in Political Science and International Affairs from the American University of Armenia, Yerevan, Armenia and a Bachelor’s of Science in Cybernetics from Yerevan State Engineering University, Yerevan, Armenia.
Ashley Ottman is the Assistant Director, Institutional Effectiveness of Nontraditional Programs, in the Office of Institutional Research & Assessment at Becker College. She joined the Becker Community in 2011 as part of the Center for Accelerated & Professional Studies, then joined the Office of Institutional Research & Assessment in 2017. Mrs. Ottman has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Chemistry-Business from Eastern University, a Certificate in Project Management from Becker College, and completed the Women’s Emergent Leadership Institute at Becker College.
Karen Batykefer is the Research Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research & Assessment at Becker College. She joined the Becker Community in 2017 after 10+ years in Institutional Research at Harford Community College. Mrs. Batykefer has her Bachelor of Arts in Computer Systems with an application in Business from Grove City College.
