studentactivities@becker.eduIt is our pleasure and privilege to welcome your family to the Becker College community. Informed and involved families are crucial to student success, and New Student Orientation is not just for students!
Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to attend the parent orientation, which coincides with the first day of New Student Orientation. The Parent Orientation Program has been specifically designed to address parent concerns and provide families with information and resources geared towards parents of new students. Both families and students receive comparable information, but in concurrently running programs. Parents should not plan to spend a lot of time with their student during New Student Orientation; orientation events foster the separation process.
This year’s New Student Orientation will begin with registration between 9:00 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. on the Leicester campus. When you arrive on campus, be ready to drop your student and their overnight belongings in front of the Fuller Campus Center for student registration. You will then be directed where to park on campus and will proceed to Daniels Hall for family registration, and your student will meet you in Daniels Hall. Sessions for parents will begin at 9:45 a.m. and will conclude 3:30, with a lunch break at noon. At 3:30 p.m., you are invited to a dessert reception, where you will have the opportunity to meet various representatives from the College while you enjoy refreshments. The reception will conclude at 4:30 p.m. Please keep in mind that there can be varying temperature conditions throughout the orientation program as we move in and out of air conditioned venues, therefore we suggest you bring a light jacket or sweatshirt.
There are no scheduled events for parents on Day 2. Please plan on picking up your student at 12:30 p.m. on the Leicester campus outside of the Fuller Campus Center where you dropped them off on Day 1.
Please note that the Parent Orientation program is designed for adults, because of the structure and content of the program. Child care is not available. Additionally, only two parents/guardians for each new student are allowed to attend due to space limitations. We are also unable to provide on-campus housing for parents or family members. Information on area hotels can be found here.
