Resident Assistant Selection Process

The resident assistant position offers a unique opportunity to serve as a leader at Becker College. Having RAs from a wide array of majors, class levels, personalities, and skill sets in the position can contribute to an overall positive and successful experience. If you feel you have something to contribute to the residence hall environment, we urge you to apply.

The resident assistant (RA) is selected to be an integral member of the residence life staff. He/she reports to and is directly accountable to a resident director (RD). The RA lives and works with residents in areas of peer advising, community development, discipline, administration, and general operation of the residential community.

Minimum Qualifications to Apply

  • Applicant must be a full-time student, carrying a minimum of 12 credits
  • Applicant must be in good standing with the College (academically and behaviorally)
  • Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.2 to apply and to be hired

The selection process is an opportunity for the resident life staff to see each candidate in various roles. It includes an application with essay questions as well as an individual interview conducted by current staff members.  Below is the timeline of our selection process for this year.

Selection Timeline

January 20: RA Applications available online and in the student affairs office
February 17: RA Applications and Reference Forms are due to the student affairs office by 5:00p.m.
February 25: Group Process
February 27 to March 2: RA Candidate Interviews
March 8:  RA candidates may pick up their decision letters in the student affairs office
March 19:  Deadline for RA candidates to accept/decline position offered
