Located at the center of the historic town of Leicester, Massachusetts, Becker College’s Leicester Campus offers two distinctive styles of living: Fully renovated 1800s Victorian-style houses or more traditional and contemporary residence halls.
Berkshire Hall (top-left) and Hampshire Hall (bottom-left) – Located adjacent to Alumni Field, Berkshire and Hampshire Halls are tucked away on the Leicester campus. Completed in 1969, each of these brick residence halls house 49 students. The three-story halls are co-ed by floor and possess a wonderful view of rural Leicester.
Barrett Hall – Barrett Hall is the newest Becker College residence hall in Leicester. The 8,000-square-foot, 40-bed dormitory has been built to ensure that students have modern, well-designed, on-campus housing. Barrett Hall residents live in modified suite-style units — a first for Becker — and in living arrangements that create a shared experience over two floors.
Hitchcock Hall – Hitchcock Hall is located on Main Street, and lies between Lane Hall and Winslow Hall. The co-ed residence is an over 21 facility, that houses 17 students and includes a kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, and microwave. Hitchcock Hall shares a large backyard with Lane Hall and Barrett Hall. You’ll also find a back porch and porch swing.
Lane Hall – Located on Main Street adjacent to the 1812 House and Hitchcock Hall, this 1813 white-brick house is a fine example of Federal-style architecture. The hall houses 20 students and includes four quads. The first floor contains a bright common room, complete with a fireplace, window seats, couches, and cable television. A spiral staircase with handrail and banisters leads to the second floor. The hall also has a side deck that leads into a large backyard shared with Hitchcock Hall and Barrett Hall.
May House – Formerly the home of the Reverend Samuel May, Jr, this historic co-ed residence hall is one of only a handful of homes authenticated as being a stop on the “Underground Railroad.”
Susan E. Knight Hall – A co-ed residence, Knight Hall houses 92 students. The three-story brick hall is located directly above the Leicester dining hall and contains several meeting rooms. A kitchen is available for student use containing a stove, frigerator, microwave, and cupboards. The front entrance looks out over the town common.
Winslow Hall – Located on Main Street, adjacent to Hitchcock Hall, Winslow Hall is a co-ed residence that houses 22 students. Built in the late 1700s, a beautiful pillared entrance leads into a large, fully furnished common area. The hall has a kitchen complete with a stove, refrigerator and microwave. Residents also enjoy a large side yard.
Borger Academic Center – Originally opened in 1967, the 31,000-square foot Borger Academic Center serves as the main academic building in Leicester. In 2006 the College, looking to upgrade the building’s classrooms, added wireless networking and new furniture and equipment. Borger’s common study areas on the first floor of the building were also remodeled. Contemporary seating, laptop juice bars, café tables, CF lighting, wall-hangings, murals, and geometric ceiling improvements have all visibly altered the space in colorful and inspiring ways.
The two-story facility has classrooms, two science laboratories (biology and chemistry), computer laboratories, and faculty offices including the Office of the Registrar and student financial services.
Daniels Hall – Is a 180 seat auditorium located within the Borger Academic Center. Daniels Hall has new seating, lighting and audio visual technology, and a movie theater screen to better support its purpose as a venue for visiting lecturers.
Lenfest Animal Health Center – Located near the gymnasium, this facility opened in 1982 and was updated in 1988. It contains Becker’s animal science labs, x-ray equipment, operating rooms, dog training and grooming rooms, a kennel and a veterinary clinic. The Becker Veterinary Clinic is open to the public and is the teaching hospital for the Veterinary Technology program at the College. Veterinary Technology and Animal Care students assist and participate in animal examinations and care under the close supervision of trained medical staff.
Marsh Hall – Marsh Hall houses Becker’s education program, faculty offices, the Collaborative Learning Center, First Year Experience and Fitness Center.
Russell House – The Russell House contains the veterinary technology and veterinary science staff and faculty offices.
Swan Library – Named for President Emeritus Paul R. Swan, the library faces the town common in the center of the campus. It contains more than 30,000 volumes with appropriate journals and audiovisual materials. Besides the general library collection, the Swan Library houses the special Samuel May collection. The library also provides student computer access.
Alumni Field – Alumni Field is located on the north side of the campus. The turf field includes a press box, lights, and grandstands. Alumni Field is home to Becker College football, field hockey, soccer, and lacrosse.
Gymnasium – The gymnasium is home to the Becker basketball and volleyball teams.
Campus Center – A new campus center opened in August 2012, with a formal ribbon cutting scheduled for September 21. A 35,727-square-foot brick and glass structure will link to the existing student center by a glass bridge connector and a neo-classical masonry tower. The center allows the College to create vibrant programming 18 hours a day and is available to the entire College community. A welcoming interior―visitors entering the new building are afforded dynamic glimpses of the 254-seat capacity dining facility. A state-of-the-art fitness center offers a wide variety of fitness options. Just around the corner from the information desk is a coffee shop and lounge. A glass-enclosed quiet study room with computers offers students an alternative to the library and computer labs. The two-story, glass atrium opens to an outdoor student activity space below the Grove’s two majestic beech trees.
Campus Center West – Campus Center West houses the new Student Health & Wellness Suite, an expanded Becker College Bookstore, and the Offices of Student Affairs, Athletics, Admissions, and Career Services. An outdoor patio overlooks the Leicester Campus Grove.
