We offer free individual counseling services without billing health insurance and the peace of mind that counseling records are never made a part of students’ academic records or transcripts. The initial triage and/or intake appointment involves completing a paperwork packet to help us to better meet your needs. Individual counseling sessions are typically 45-50 minutes in length. Some students schedule weekly individual counseling sessions, while others meet with their provider at the Counseling Center bi-weekly, monthly, or a few times a semester. The key is providing quality services to best meet your needs through an individualized treatment plan.
Group counseling is a great way to receive support from peers in an objective setting, to learn new skills, and improve ways of relating to yourself and others! Therapy and support groups typically last five to six weeks in duration for approximately an hour and a half in length for each group meeting. We are currently offering the following groups for the Fall 2015-Spring 2016 academic year:
Brave Space Group (Worcester Campus)
We are available for support in addressing emergency situations, providing consultations during difficult periods, offering referrals for psychiatric medication and related services, and debriefing with groups of students, staff, and/or faculty following tragic events. For emergency support after office hours, please contact the Campus Police emergency line 508.373.9555. You may also dial 911 and proceed to your local emergency room. Please note that it may also be helpful to speak with Residential Staff for additional after hours support.
Couples counseling is a great way to find support working through relationship concerns. Whether you are in a new or long-term partnership, couples counseling can assist you with enhancing the use of healthy communication skills, furthering self-awareness toward lessening criticism, working through value differences, and implementing more date nights toward increased positive support for you and your partner.
From national screening days to offering tools for increased mindfulness and relaxation, the Counseling Center is available for campus programming to support the Becker Community. Please contact us for more information!
