Forbes Crowdsources 2011

Welcome back to Becker! We have one week of classes behind us, and we have already had more snow storms than tests.

To set the tone for spring 2011, I want to draw your attention to Names You Need to Know on Forbes.com. It is a collection of not only people who are blazing trails in a number of industries, but products, job titles, cities, ideas, a currency and even a smooth ride—the McLaren MP4-12C.

I hope that you will find some inspiration in these ideas, and I applaud Forbes for putting out the call to their readers in order to compile Names You Need to Know. The introduction admits, “Our readers and contributors will always be smarter than a few editors.”

I encourage you to browse the grid of 50 images—you don’t even have to leave the page (but you should)—hover over an image to see a mini-description.

Reading about the floating bicycle, a headset that can read brainwaves, a fierce federal prosecutor, “start-up countries,” an effort to map the land and seascapes in the face of development, investment trends and more, I wonder who among our students will be the visionaries and inventors of the future.

Leave a comment, and let me know what your dreams are. What are you doing that no one has done before?
