If it is difficult for people to determine what is the right thing to do, it is because we have become too good at justifying. We lose sight of justice, and we remain silent. We have given in to fear.

For generations, people have served in the military and risked their lives so that future generations—so that we—can enjoy the safety and security that much of the world still struggles to achieve. They have underwritten our freedom with their duty, protected our democracy and upheld the American way of life.
