Hawks Handle Mariners; Advance to Semifinals

 

Leicester, MA – Junior guard Travis Suber (Springfield, MA) scored a game high 26 points and had 6 assists as Becker College defeated Maine Maritime Academy 74-61 in North Atlantic Conference quarterfinal actions tonight at the Leicester Gymnasium.

 

Becker improves to 13-13 (8-5 NAC) and will travel to Elms College on Friday February 29 for semifinal action. MMA finishes their season at 10-14 (7-6 NAC).

 

Freshman Kevin Miranda (Brockton, MA) hit six three pointers for the Hawks and Trey Jacobs (Lexington, MA) was 7 for 15 from the floor as the duo combined for 39 points off the bench. Jacobs also had a team high 7 rebounds.

 

MMA was led by Derek DiFrederico (Millinocket, ME) who had 16 points and 3 steals, Neil Stewart (Rangeley, ME) who had the games only double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Bryant Ciomei’s (Stonington, ME) 14 points.

 

MMA held a 29-28 lead at halftime and out rebounded the Hawks 36-32. MMA shot 41% for the game and Becker shot 44% from the field.
