Leicester, MA – Becker College freshman forward TreyJacobs (Lexington Park, MD) netted a game-high 25 points but the Hawks couldn’t hold off Newbury College, who shot a blistering 56% from the field, and dropped a non-conference game 89-82 at the Leicester Gymnasium.
Becker dips to 10-11, 6-3 NAC. Newbury improves to 11-7.
Newbury made an incredible 33 of 59 shots from the field and were 20 of 24 from the free throw line. Becker struggled from the floor all, shooting only 3o% in the first half, 40% for the game. Newbury held the rebounding edge 42-34
Newbury had 4 starters in double figures. The Nighthawks were led by senior guard Arch Mitchell (Framingham, MA) who had a team high 25 points and Ivan DaSilva (New Bedford, MA) had the games only double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Cleveland (Lynn, MA) added 15 points and 9 rebounds and Steven Morris (Somerville, MA) finished with 16 points.
Becker freshman guard Kevin Miranda (Brockton, MA) added 18 points off the bench and Travis Suber (Springfield, MA) had 16 points, 4 steals and 4 assists in the game.
Becker returns to action on Saturday, February 9th as they host Elms at 3:00pm.
