Hawks Highlights - November 12th
Men’s Soccer- The Hawks finished off their impressive season by being selected to their first ECAC Tournament in school history. The Hawks squared off against number one seed Norwich University in Vermont. Unfortunately the Hawks came up short of their ultimate goal with a 2-0 loss. The Hawks finished the season with an overall record of 15-7
Men’s Ice Hockey- The Hawks where defeated by conference rival UMass Dartmouth 5-0 on Saturday afternoon. Tony Stoehr (DePere, WI) and Shawn Riggins (Gardner, MA) combined for 29 saves in the loosing effort. The Hawks fell to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the ECAC Northeast. The Hawks will face cross town rival Worcester State on Sunday at the New England Sports Complex, game time is 12:45pm.
Men’s Basketball- The Hawks will begin their long awaited return to the court on Friday night when they face Worcester State in the annual Worcester Tip-Off Tournament at Nichols College in Dudley, MA. The Hawks will take the court in the first game of the tournament which begins at 5pm. Brian Gorman will be making his debut as head coach of the Hawks. The key players returning for the 2007-08 season include: Senior Emmanuel Masumbuko (Burlington, VT) who led the Hawks last season in rebounds (231) and blocked shots (11). Emmanuel was 2nd on the team with 347 points. Junior Guard Shawn Fuller (New Haven, CT) led the Hawks scoring attack with 449 points. Shawn also led the team on defense with 43 steals. Jeremy Rivers (Springfield, MA) also returns for his final season after the leading the Hawks with 103 assists in the 2006-07 season.
Women’s Basketball- The Lady Hawks will tip off the 2007-08 season at the Abgott Invitational at Buffalo State on Saturday November 18th. The women will face D’Youville College in the first round of the tournament at 8pm. Dean Godin returns for his 3rd season as head coach of the Lady Hawks. Junior Tri-Captain Beth Pion (Enfield, CT) led the Lady Hawks last season in points (443), rebounds (249), steals (49) and blocked shots (77). Kristin Karat (Enfield, CT) also returns for her 2nd season at Becker College. Kristin led the Lady Hawks last season with 95 assists.
