Hawks Highlights - October 30th
Men’s Soccer- The Hawks finished out their regular season with a 2-0 win over conference rival Lesley College. Dircilino Debrito (New Bedford, MA) scored both goals for the Hawks. The Hawks began postseason action on Sunday with an impressive 3-0 victory over Thomas College. Alie Samura (Milton, MA) got things started with his 13th goal of the season. The Hawks punched their ticket to the next round when Dircilino would add his third and fourth goals of the week. Dircilino’s second goal of the game came when he ran past the Thomas defense for a breakaway goal. Goalkeeper Aaron Fill (Ladner, BC) was brilliant in net with two shutouts and two saves this week. The Hawks record is now 15-5 overall.
Football- The Hawks notched their second NCAA victory on Saturday with a 28-14 win over Maritime College. Gabriel Prophet (Washington, DC) led the Hawks attack with 324 passing yards and 4 touchdowns. Levi Smith (FT Lauderdale, FL) caught five passes for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns. Anthony Johnson (Springfield, VA) led the Hawks ground attack with 25 carries for 116 yards. Johnson also had 38 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jacques Fablaus (Canton, MA) also scored a touchdown. The Hawks defense was led by Leonard McKinnon (Charlton, MA) with seven tackles. Thaddeus France (Centerville, MA) added five tackles and an interception. The Hawks defense combined for five sacks and recovered four turnovers. The Hawks record is now 2-6 overall.
Field Hockey – The Lady Hawks season came to an end last week with a 2-0 loss to Worcester State College. Freshman Tammy Mullen (Pottstown, PA) finished the season as the team leader in points with 4 goals and 3 assists. Goalkeeper Ciara Lawrence (Costa Mesa, CA) finished the season with a 2.21 goals against average. With no seniors on the team, look for 2008 to return a core of players on both offense and defense.
Volleyball – The Volleyball team split their last two regular season games last week. On 10/23 they swept Mitchell College 3-0. Rachel Pinak (Cheektowaga, NY) led the way with 12 kills and three blocks. Kelsea Laubenstein (Randolph, MA) had a game high 24 assists. On Senior Day when the team honored Co-captain Kelly Rossitto (Meriden, CT) and Ashley Hurlburt (Middletown, CT) the team dropped a 3-0 decision to Newbury College. The Lady Hawks have wrapped up a fifth seed in the upcoming NAC Tournament. They will travel to Lesley University on Wednesday, October 31st at 7:30pm for a quarterfinal match-up.
