Hawks Highlights - October 9th
Football- The Hawks picked up their first NCAA win to improve their record to 1-4 with an impressive 30-6 victory over Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. The Hawks got on the board first when
Karrone Stanley (West Haven, CT) hit
Levi Smith (Fort Lauderdale, FL) on an 87 yard touchdown pass.
Captain Jacques Faublas (Canton, MA) continued the scoring attack with a 36 yard touchdown reception from Stanley. The Faublas touchdown put the Hawks ahead for good.
Anthony Johnson (Springfield, VA) added a 3 yard rush, and
D’Andre Stringer (Hollywood, FL) broke away on an 87 yard rush to finish off the scoring for the Hawks.
Thierry Raphael (Lynn, MA) led the defense with 7.5 tackles and an interception. The Hawks will battle Hartwick College on Saturday at WPI at 5pm
Women’s Soccer-Alena Phongsa (Putnam, CT) added her team leading fourth goal of the season in a 7-2 loss to Mount Ida . Kim Pino (North Attleboro, MA) pitched in with her second goal of the year. Caitlin Faunce (Fairhaven, MA) made ten saves in the losing effort The Lady Hawks went 0-1 this week.
Men’s Soccer- The Hawks had a successful week going 1-1 with a big conference win against Saint Joseph College. Jason Gianatti (Southington, CT) led the hawks to the 6-3 victory with two goals. Alie Samura (Milton, MA) sealed the victory over the Monks with one of his three goals on the week. Alie is leading the Hawks with ten goals on the season. Junior co-captain RJ Giegerich (Londonderry, NH) also chipped in with two goals in the win. The Hawks are now 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the North Atlantic Conference.
Field Hockey-The Lady Hawks fought hard, but came up on the short end of the stick with two 1-0 losses this week. The ladies loss in penalty strokes to conference rival Elms College. Ciara Lawrence (Costa Mesa, CA) played outstanding in goal making 16 saves on the week.
Women’s Volleyball-Kelsea Laubenstein (Randolph, MA) led the Lady Hawks to a victory over Mitchell College with 38 Assists. Rachel Pinak (Cheektowaga, NY) added 15 kills to complete the 3-1 win. The volleyball team went 1-1 this week with a 3-0 loss to Worcester State. The Lady Hawks have compiled a record of 6-9 overall and 3-4 in the North Atlantic Conference.
Women’s Tennis – The Lady Hawks went 3-0 last week. They had wins over Newbury College (9-0), Mitchell College (8-1) and Lyndon State College (7-2)…Krissy Drabkowski (Danvers, MA) went 3-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles…Allison Flynn (Wilmington, MA) went 2-1, 3-0…Mandy Kennedy (Gardner, MA) went 2-0…Colleen Murphy (Lyme, CT) went 2-1, 3-0…Aleah Oriol (Waterford, CT) went 2-0, 1-1…Catie Sivret(Stow, MA) went 2-0, 3-0…Danielle Stryker (Ledyard, CT) went 2-0, 3-0….Overall Record: 8-2, 2-0 NAC…The Hawks face their last North Atlantic Conference foe Bay Path College on Saturday at 1pm.
Golf – The Golf team competed at the ECAC New England Division III Championships over the weekend… The team finished in 15th place…John DiNardi (East Haddam, CT) had the best score for the team shooting a two day total of 165
Equestrian – The Equestrian team hosted their first ever horse show at the Equestrian Center facility in Paxton, MA. Becker tied for second place with 34 points with UMass …Heather Mrzyglod was the Reserve High Point Rider Champion (2nd best rider in the show) and she was Novice Division Champion.
