Hawks Highlights - September 24th
Golf – The men’s golf team traveled to Chicopee, MA for the Elms College Invitational last Tuesday…The team finished in seventh place with Nichols College taking home the title…John DiNardi (East Haddam, CT) (87) and Ben Malone (Westboro, MA) (91) both finished in the top 25.
Women’s Volleyball – The Lady Hawks picked up a big conference win over Thomas College on Saturday morning…Freshman Kelsea Laubenstein (Randolph, MA) continues her steady play as the team’s setter with 19 assists in the 3-0 win…Husson defeated Becker 3-0 in the afternoon game of the double header…Volleyball finished the week 1-3 dropping a five set match to Simmons College and a 3-0 loss to cross town rival WPI…The team is currently in third place in the NAC standings.
Women’s Tennis…The team split the weeks two games on the court…In a 8-1 victory over Worcester State Allison Flynn (Wilmington, MA), Colleen Murphy (Lyme, CT), Danielle Stryker (Ledyard, CT), Mandy Kennedy (Gardner, MA) and Kristina Drabkowski (Danvers, MA) all picked up singles wins…Emmanuel whitewashed the tennis team 9-0 on Sunday…Overall record is 5-3 (2-0 NAC).
Field Hockey – Kristal Swiderski (Warren, MA) and Tammy Mullen (Pottstown, PA) both picked up goals this week for the Lady Hawks…The team dropped a 2-1 decision to Salem State College and a 5-1 loss to Husson College...In a Friday afternoon tilt with Thomas College the teams went scoreless thru regulation and thirty minutes of overtime. Thomas scored on their last penalty shot for the 1-0 win…Keeper Ciara Lawrence (Costa Mesa, CA) had a career high 20 saves in game.
Women’s Soccer – Catherine Millette (Columbia, CT) scored her first career hat trick (3 goals) and Kim Pino (North Attleboro, MA) scored her first of the year as Becker battled to a 4-4 tie with Mitchell College…The team dropped a pair of conference games 4-2 vs. Thomas and 3-0 vs. ME-Farmington over the weekend.
Football - Karrone Stanley (West Haven, CT) threw for the Hawks going 11-24 with 313 yards and four touchdowns, his longest going for 80 as Becker lost a tough road game 45-41 at Mount Ida College…The Hawks were stunned after they had taken a 41-39 with 21 seconds left in the game. On the ensuing kickoff Mt Ida ran it back 72 yards for the touchdown and the win…Jakar Turner (West Haven, CT) led the Hawks with 241 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
