Hawks kick off 2007 on the Road

 
Leicester, MA – Five of the six Becker College athletic teams set to kick off their seasons on Saturday, September 1st will do it on the road.
 
The football team will open up its 3rd season of collegiate football when the Hawks travel to Utica College for a 1:30 pm match-up. It will be the season opener for both teams. The Hawks have a 0-2 record verse the Pioneers and are under the guidance of second year head coach Mel Mills.
 
The field hockey team will travel down Route 9 to take on Coach Tanya Stonehouse’s alma mater Clark University on Saturday at 1:00 pm. The Lady Hawks are shooting for another birth in the North Atlantic Conference playoffs.
 
The Men’s and Women’s soccer teams will be traveling to Bard College for a Saturday afternoon doubleheader. Both games will start at 2:00 pm. The men’s team will be under the tutelage of first year head coach Taskin Guven and the Lady Hawks will be starting the third year of the Bill LaPorte era.
 
The defending North Atlantic Conference Champion women’s tennis team will travel to Boston on Saturday to take on Eastern Nazarene College at 11:00 am. Back  for his 4th year along the courts is Resident Life Director Tom Cooley.
 
Women’s Volleyball, the only team to start its season at home will take on Bard College at 1:00 pm at the Leicester Campus gymnasium. The Lady Hawks are coached by a tandem of Becker Alumni, in her third season as head coach is Chelsea (Clyburn) Morehouse (‘04) and assisted by Robin Sheeran (’05).
