Nursing Admissions Requirements (ASN)
Associate Degree in Nursing
- Earn a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5 or better on the high school or college level.
- Complete 2 years of college preparatory secondary level school science including
Biology with a lab and Chemistry with a lab. Both courses must be completed within
5 years with a minimum grade of C+. A four-credit college course in Biology with a
lab and a four-credit college Chemistry course with a lab within 5 years with grades
of C+ or better will also satisfy the pre-requisite science requirement.
- Complete 2 years of college preparatory level secondary school mathematics
including Algebra I and II or Algebra I and Geometry. Both courses must be
completed within 5 years with a minimum grade of C+. A three-credit college course
in College Algebra within 5 years with a grade of C+ or better will also satisfy the prerequisite math requirement.
- Admission to the nursing program is competitive, and the requirements listed above
are minimums and do not guarantee admission. All students applying for admission to the nursing program (including internal and external transfers) are required to take a TEAS. This test is administered at Becker on a routine basis and costs $35. Information regarding the Assessment exam will be mailed out to applicants who meet the minimum qualifications.
- Students who do not meet the above criteria but satisfy the general admissions
requirements of the college may be accepted into the Undeclared program. They
can then take the appropriate courses to allow them to meet the admission
requirements of the Nursing program.
- Nursing application deadlines are as follows: September applicant: February 1st,
January applicant: August 1st, and May applicant: January 1st.
