Attendance Policy

All students are expected to be regular in attendance at all classes. Absence from class for any reason does not relieve the student from responsibility of completing all assigned work and may adversely affect the grade when class participation is considered in marking.

Each faculty member establishes an attendance policy for his or her courses, including laboratories, announces it to each class at the beginning of the semester and includes it in writing on the course syllabus. It is recommended that students be permitted no more than 4-5 contact hours of absence in any course.  Further, repeated absence from class does not mean the student will automatically be dropped or withdrawn from the class (Course Drop Policy).  This is not meant to preclude the faculty members ability to drop a student from a class based on their written attendance policy.
