Gateway Program

 July 26 - August 13, 2010

What is Gateway?

Learn the skills you need to succeed academically during your first year of college. Our Gateway Program is designed to give you a head start before your freshman year even begins. The Gateway Program is a 3 week summer program that includes one foundations course (Math or English) and a variety of activities that will help you transition to Becker.

Students who participate in the Gateway Program and successfully complete these courses during the summer are at an advantage when the fall semester begins in September. Not only is the foundations course completed, but students are ready to complete college level courses!

Best of all, participation in the Gateway Program is limited and program costs are minimal; just meals, books, and supplies.

Benefits of Participation in the Gateway Program

  • Complete the foundations course, be prepared for the next level course in September and gain confidence academically.
  • Tuition and room for the program are at no cost.*
  • Activities are provided at no additional cost.
  • Make new friends!

Cost of the Gateway Program

Becker College has dedicated resources to this program so that those who participate only pay for the absolute minimum. Students who choose to live on campus are only charged a meal fee. All students are responsible for their books and supplies.*

The student’s account balance for the fall semester must be paid in full prior to the start of the Gateway Program. This includes securing financing in advance and having a financial and award package, if applicable, in place to cover the balance.

Math & English Foundations Courses

Studies have shown that, across the nation, up to 40% of incoming freshmen need foundations courses in English and/or Math in order to succeed at the college level. At Becker College, placement in Foundations courses is determined by each student’s skill level assessed during Accuplacer placement testing. Normally, students are placed into these courses during the fall semester of the first year. The Gateway program provides an opportunity to complete the required foundations courses during the summer.

* Assuming full-time enrollment for the fall semester, otherwise tuition charges apply.
