This fall, Becker College will roll out the red carpet for online students. Writing for Screen and Digital Media, a new certificate program offered through the Center for Accelerated & Professional Studies, was developed by subject matter experts and working professionals in the Hollywood entertainment industry.

“The certificate is a solid foundation to allow a student from any background to move onto higher levels of screenwriting,” said Steve Moysey, Ph.D., director of continuing education in the Center for Accelerated and Professional Studies at Becker College. “Whether it is your dream to create a visual story for television or movies that is compelling, entertaining and captivating or to explore the growing field of web-based content, this program will help you achieve it.”

Students in the intensive, multimedia online certificate program will learn from industry professionals who will guide them through the entire process of script writing as well as teach them about the business side of the industry. Courses include the Business of Screenwriting, a valuable insider’s look into how things really get done in Hollywood, as well as information about the development of story, character, theme, actions, visuals, and dialogue. The program serves as an introduction to the world of screenwriting and covers all aspects of creating a screenplay. Upon completion of the course, students will have a first draft of their screenplay.
