CNN Interviews Becker Freshman

In the cold of early December, a camera crew arrived on the snowy streets of the Becker College Worcester campus to film freshman Jessica Ravinski for a CNN segment on teens battling acne.  A “victim of horrible skin,” she said none of the numerous products she tried had successfully cleared up her acne.

Ravinski was finally ready for her close-up thanks to dermatologist Thomas E. Rohrer, MD. She first met with Rohrer while still a high school student. “He had explained to me a new procedure that was just introduced to him which was a laser to shrink one’s pores to prevent more acne from appearing,” she said.

A sought after expert on dermatologic and laser surgery, Dr. Rohrer referred Ravinski and other patients for the CNN story.  “I quickly agreed, thinking I might not even get a call from CNN to be filmed,” Ravinski said. She did get the call, and a crew from Pulse Media in Watertown, Mass. filmed Ravinski at her home and in her dorm at Becker. The camera even followed Ravinski to the Fuller Dining Hall for a nutritious meal, a habit she must follow to help keep her skin healthy.

The segment, filmed for CNN’s Health News, is expected to air in February 2008.
