Becker in the News – Campus Police Training

Published on Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

Becker College Police Chief David Bousquet is at the forefront of a collaboration among Worcester campus police forces, including Assumption College, Clark University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). On July 16 and 17, Becker police officers and members of Clark University Campus Police conducted a scenario-based law enforcement training program, along with the Worcester Police Department, as part of an ongoing emergency training campaign.

Officers suited up in defensive gear, employed tactical planning and simunition (paint ball-type ammunition) in a shooter-scenario simulation, in addition to classroom training and planning exercises. The training was covered by WBZ-TV Channel 4 and New England Cable News. An article and photos appeared in the July 18 issue of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. “We pray we may never see a tragedy like the one that unfolded at Virginia Tech in April, but collaborating among the campuses and with state and local police will guarantee that students are protected by the best force possible,” said Chief Bousquet.
