Becker College President Ken Zirkle and the Board of Trustees approved the new position of vice president of development and alumni affairs and appointed Dean J. Hickey of Shrewsbury, Mass., formerly director of development, in the new role.
As vice president, the Becker alumnus will have a higher profile in building relationships with alumni donors and initiating new programs to engage alumni and raise new funds. Hired as director of development in October of 2004, Hickey has been responsible for more than doubling annual fund giving and increasing scholarship and planned gifts.
After three years in the U.S. Army and more than 10 years in sales and marketing, Hickey turned to fundraising in 2001. He spent two years as a major gift officer for the UMass Memorial Foundation. Hickey earned an associate’s degree from Becker College, a bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University and attended Indiana University Fundraising School.
