More than 450 people from across New England, including 180 accepted students and their families, will converge at Becker College for its annual Accepted Student Day Thursday, April 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the gymnasium on the Leicester, Mass. campus at 964 Main Street.

New students committed to Becker, and some still making a decision, will experience an introduction to college life by Dr. Mark Taylor, author of the article, “Helicopters, Snowplows and Bulldozers: Managing  Students’ Parents.” Dr. Taylor is a nationally-recognized educator and higher education consultant.

“We host this event so close to May 1 to help students and their families in their decision-making process,” said Karen H. Schedin, dean of admissions, referring to the nationally-accepted deadline of May 1 for students to make a deposit at the institution of their choice.

“Accepted Student Day allows Becker administration, staff and faculty to present a picture of academics and campus life that is both inviting and realistic,” said Kenneth S. Cameron, vice president of student affairs.

The day’s agenda includes student ambassador-led tours of the college’s campuses in Leicester—which includes a working veterinary clinic—and Worcester, Mass. and its equestrian center in Paxton, Mass. as well as showcases of athletics, student activities, clubs, and student services.
