“Worcester: The City That Reads” Book Drive
Start Date: March 15, 2013
End Date: May 1, 2013
The annual “Worcester: The City That Reads” book drive is now under way and will run on both campuses until May 1, 2013. Last year the city collected more than 20,000 books. This year, the city is hoping to collect 27,000 books for pre-K through 8th grade readers.
Many of the books will be distributed to the Worcester Public School system in June for summer reading programs. Books are also distributed to Head Start, Rainbow Child Development, the African Community Education Institute, and United Way agencies.
Collection bins for books will be located on the Worcester Campus (Weller) and Leicester Campus (Borger). Until collection bins are put out, you can drop off books at Dan Chapman’s office in Leicester (Borger, room 211), and Dan’s office in Worcester (Weller, room 202).
Becker’s goal is to collect 2,000 books. Becker participation in the book drive is coordinated by the Sophomore Year Experience. If you have any questions, please contact Dan Chapman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
