    Colleen Murphy '81

    When Colleen Murphy graduated from Becker College in 1981 with her degree in social services, she certainly did not expect to be an award-winning producer and stage and screen actress one day. As she recalls, “I had some strong ideas about what I wanted to do after graduating from Becker and I am very happy with where I am today. Becker played a really valuable role in my life. I met my best friends in the world there – Penny Bacchiochi ’81 and Sharon Uhlman ’81. We are forever sisters."

    The opportunities afforded to Paula Proctor '71 through a financial scholarship from Becker College forever changed her life. Growing up in the ’50s and ’60s on a farm in a small town, the idea of attending college seemed unattainable. That opportunity, in many ways, opened Paula’s eyes to the world for the first time. “When I arrived at Becker, I just exploded with ideas,” she says.

    “Paige Rowden had a significant impact on my life because my experience at Leicester Junior was transformational. I can remember that the classroom was competitive. They posted our test scores for everyone to see, and I didn’t want to be in the middle of the pack. So, I worked hard and made the Dean’s List. My accomplishments in the classroom and on the basketball court gave me confidence and helped me believe that I could achieve anything that I set my mind to.”
