David Thrope currently lives in Acton, MA, which is about 20 miles West of Boston. He has lived in New England most of his life. Born in Lowell, MA, the home of Jack Kerouac, he later moved to New York City, attending college and driving a cab. He wonders if self-driving vehicles will have an aggressive mode. Moving to Nashua, New Hampshire and Boston, he furthered his education at night while working for a company in the packaging industry. In the 16 years he was employed there he was involved in sales and marketing (eventually becoming the VP of Sales and Marketing). Since the business was relatively small (3 production facility and about $16M in sales), he found himself involved in accounting (production tracking and setting up and maintaining an automated system) as well as traveling all over the country to manage sales activities. . Eventually the golden parachute let go when the company was acquired allowing him to pursue consulting and teaching opportunities.

He has spent the last 25 years in the field of education, training and development, managing training programs as well as conducting over 2000 training sessions. He has also taught over 350 undergrad and grad college courses (many were obviously repeats).focusing on management, marketing, IT and accounting issues. He states that the most unusual place he ever taught was in a prison

He holds B.A. in Philosophy from New York University, a Certificate in Accounting (to balance out the Philosophy) from Bentley University, an MBA (marketing/entrepreneurship) from Babson College and several credits toward an EdD in Human Resources Education (training and development) from Boston University.
