Professor Margaret O’Brien McNeil has served as a full-time faculty member in the Becker College Department of Nursing since 1988, advancing from assistant professor to professor. Prior to joining the Becker College faculty, McNeil served on the faculty at the Somerville Hospital School of Nursing, St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing, and the University of Rochester, and also held various staff nursing positions.
A graduate of SUNY Stony Brook with a bachelor of science in nursing, she subsequently pursued graduate work at Boston University, earning a master’s degree in nursing. She later earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies at Clark University, with a concentration in education for the adult learner and holistic health.
Professor McNeil has served as an adjunct faculty member at other local colleges, including Worcester State College, Quinsigamond Community College, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and Massachusetts Bay and Mount Wachusett Community colleges.
Personal Philosophy
Professional McNeil believes there are no “cookie cutter” approaches to effective teaching and learning, and that teaching students has to be personal and meaningful to be effective.
