Linda L. Esper, RN, MSN, MBA, Ed.D., has served as an educator for more than 25 years and on the faculty at Becker College since 2004. She currently holds the position of director of nursing for the associate degree and RN-to-BSN programs, and is responsible for the development and delivery of all the College’s nursing curricula. Dr. Esper has held an array of educator, clinician, and administrative positions in a variety of health care settings, where she was involved with accreditation and grant writing, as well as new program development at Becker College.
A graduate of the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing, Dr. Esper continued her graduate studies in nursing and business administration at Anna Maria College, later earning a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Hartford. Her research interests have been focused on nursing program academic readiness and success, along with urban health services—an area she is also passionate about in the classroom.
In addition to her campus responsibilities, Dr. Esper is involved in community work, having recently participated in an area high school’s strategic planning committee and activities related to fostering the academic and social needs of the pre-college student.
Personal Philosophy
Dr. Esper’s personal philosophy of teaching is based on the sentiment: Embrace education; learning is a lifetime. She believes that formal pedagogy is greatly enhanced by treating the life experiences of students as a strong motivating force, and that education helps self-directed students maximize the learning they derive from the curriculum of all of life’s experiences.
