Kaitlin Pearson ’13

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design

graphic design major Kaitlin PearsonTwo recommendations helped shape Kaitlin’s future: her best friend convinced her to study graphic design because she loved working on computers and had always been creative, and a high school teacher told her about Becker College.

Becker College has been a perfect fit for Kaitlin. She says the campus and class size are “not too big and not too small,” which provide her with the opportunity to work closely with professors. “Becker has given me the tools, life skills, and opportunities that I need to be ready for a successful career,” she adds. In her digital imaging class, for example, she and her classmates explored the world of photography. “I learned to reach outside the box with photography,” she says. “Every class we were assigned a photograph and taught how to use Photoshop to bring out the best in the image.”  Kaitlin learned to bring new life into an image by adding more color, more shine, or even more age. The class helped her learn the intricacies of the digital camera, how to use lighting to her advantage, and how to create sharp and clear images.

Outside of the classroom, Kaitlin serves as a resident assistant and writer for the Becker Online Journal, covering the world of popular culture. She hopes to earn a master’s degree in design and land a position with a design company. Her sights are set on a global scale. “I want to make designs that are seen all over the world,” she says.
