Dr. Northrop strongly believes that honesty and hard work can help you reach any goal. She received her bachelor’s degree in zoology from the University of Vermont and then spent three years as a research assistant at Yale Medical School. She continued her interest in medicine and animal health at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, obtaining a master of science in veterinary and animal science.

She left New England to attend veterinary school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research interests during this time were equine infectious anemia virus and immunology and pathology. After graduation, she practiced small animal medicine before returning to New England for an internship within a practice primarily comprised of dogs and cats, with some exotics.

Dr. Northrop joined Becker College in 1995 as attending and staff veterinarian and as an adjunct faculty member. In 2002, she accepted a full-time faculty position in conjunction with her continued role as staff veterinarian.

Teaching a variety of classes within the veterinary technology and veterinary science programs, Dr. Northrop applies her mantra about honesty and hard work with her students, guiding them to successfully achieve their own personal, academic, and professional goals.
